EQL is releasing a new payment flow on select draws running through EQL's Shopify App.
For these launches, entering the draw does not mean your card will be automatically charged if you are selected. Instead, selected entrants will receive an invite to complete purchase through the retailer's Shopify checkout.
This adds one extra step for selected entrants, but it is designed to reduce payment declines and give fans a clear opportunity to complete their purchase if selected.
Quick note up top: This is not how all EQL launches work, and it is an alternative flow. We're running it on a small number of launches, learning from how it goes, and gathering feedback.
How this flow works
When you enter the draw, you submit your entry details as usual. There is no payment step at entry.
After the draw closes, EQL begins selecting entrants. If you are selected, you may receive an email inviting you to complete purchase.
This email will include a link to complete payment through the retailer's Shopify checkout. You will need to complete payment within the payment window set for that launch.
You are not confirmed for the item until your payment has been completed.
What happens if I receive an invite to complete purchase?
Follow the payment link in your email and complete checkout before the deadline shown.
Once your payment is completed, your purchase is confirmed. Any order confirmation, payment, shipping, or fulfillment updates will come from the retailer.
What happens if I do not complete payment in time?
If you do not complete payment before the deadline, your invite will expire and the item will be offered to another entrant.
Because inventory is limited, expired invites cannot be reopened.
Why might invites be sent in waves?
For some launches, invites to complete purchase may be sent in multiple waves.
This can happen when selected entrants do not complete payment within their window. If inventory remains available, additional entrants may be selected and invited to complete purchase.
This means one person may receive an invite to complete purchase before another entrant receives their final result.
When will I receive my result?
If you are selected, you may receive an invite to complete purchase after the draw closes.
If you are not selected, you will receive your result after all inventory has been claimed and the launch is complete.
Because this launch is testing a new flow, result timing may be different from other EQL launches you have entered before.
Is this how all EQL launches work now?
No. This is a new flow on select draws running through EQL's Shopify App.
Many EQL launches still use the standard flow, where selected entrants are automatically charged after the draw is processed. For this particular launch, selected entrants are invited to complete their purchase instead.
Who should I contact if I have a payment or checkout issue?
For EQL’s Shopify App draws, payment and checkout are handled by the retailer through Shopify, and EQL has no visibility into a retailer’s order management system..
If you have an issue completing payment, using the checkout link, updating payment details, or receiving order or shipping updates, please contact the retailer directly.
EQL cannot manage or influence payment processing for Shopify checkout.
