Why do I see a charge for a launch I wasn't selected for?
When you enter a launch, we place a $0 authorization on your card to confirm it's valid. No money is taken or held. If you're not selected, you won't be charged anything for that launch.
If you're seeing a charge or pending amount, it's usually one of the following.
Your bank is showing the $0 authorization
Some banks and card apps display the $0 authorization as a pending line or send a notification about it. It's a card check, not a payment, and it doesn't change your balance.
A payment was attempted and declined
If you were selected and your payment was declined, your entry couldn't be completed. Your bank can still show the declined attempt as pending for a few days before it drops off. No money has been taken. See Why do I still have a pending charge if my payment failed?
It's your EQL+ membership
If you're an EQL+ member, your monthly membership payment shows as a charge from EQL. See Why am I seeing recurring payments on my account from EQL?
It's from a different launch or retailer
Check the amount and date against your other entries in My Activity at app.eql.com. A charge from a launch you were selected for, or from a retailer's own store, can look similar on your statement.
If a charge has completed and you weren't selected
If the charge shows as completed, not pending, and you weren't selected for that launch, submit a request with:
- The launch name
- A screenshot of the charge
- The email address you entered with
Our team will look into it.
